The marketing audit process involves an in-depth consultation with the client to understand the client’s business which is followed up by desk research. The desk research will be an analysis of the external marketplace including a review of competitors and factors affecting potential demand for the client’s products/services.
The completion of a marketing audit enables the client to understand the existing market place, its position in that market place and what it wants to achieve. There is little point spending time and money on marketing without this understanding.
A marketing audit will always be completed as the first stage of any Marketing Plan.
