Do as I say, not as I do

It has been a month since I last blogged. I have failed to practise what I preach.

I always stress to my clients the importance of two marketing fundamentals:

  1. Have a strategy and make a plan
  2. Make time for marketing

Where have I gone wrong?

  1. I haven’t got a very clear blog strategy and I don’t plan blogs in advance. I sort of know what ultimately I am trying to achieve from blogging and I prefer to write about topics as and when they come to me. The trouble with this approach is occasionally I come up against a blogging blank wall. The intention is there, I just lack the inspiration.
  2. I have got busier! My client commitments have increased and I have been too focused on satisfying my client obligations (not helped by the raft of recent Bank Holidays!) and left little time for marketing.

So one month later the morale of the story is “do as I say, not as I do”. Make sure you have a clear marketing plan and make time to execute it. If you don’t then the risk is that eventually everything will come to a grinding halt.

I will now aim to practise what I preach and blog here again next week..
