Twitter to increase character limit

According to a recent report from Bloomberg Twitter is going to stop counting photographs and links in its 140-character limit for tweets. This could free up an additional 47 characters per tweet - great news if you always find it a struggle to create a perfect yet succinct tweet!

Tweets with images gain more engagement than those without so this is good news. You will now be able to include images with your tweets without sacrificing your message.

Earlier this year Twitter suggested that it may increase the character limit to 10,000, which sparked outrage amongst the Twitter community. This latest character limit revision suggestion seems a much more sensible option. It will give users more flexibility over their tweets without turning the social media platform into an essay writing competition.

The new feature could be added in just two weeks according to Bloomberg. Reports are unconfirmed so we'll just have to wait and see.

What do you think of this impending change?
